Ac Adapter

Ok, i have a Dell Latitude, D610, fairly new, ive had it about a year now. Just recently, a family member dropped it a grand total of 8 inches to the floor, and now the AC adapter isnt recognised by the battery, it refuses to take a charge. The computer runs fine as long as its plugged in to the wall, but the battery keeps sinking lower and lower, right now its at 7, and will go lower only if i unplug said laptop. What do i do?
