    I have an A8V.
I just purchased a WD5000AAKS (Western Digital 500Gb SATA2) and when attempting to get the SATA controller to recognize it, I get the following error:
"HardWare initiate failed, Please check device!!!
The Bios does not be installed. Press <g> to continue."

The Chipset is the VT8237 and the bios ver says it's 2.01

It says this regardless of if I have any other SATA devices connected or not. (both of my other drives appear to be SATA1)

Also, just to try, I attempted to get the drive to be recognized by a known working SATA/IDE/USB connector which I just tested w/ an IDE device, and the SATA2 does not show up in the storage manager whereas the IDE device did.

Is this a motherboard, controller bios, or hard drive issue?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
