    Hi,

I think I have a bad LCD. The laptop boots fine but the only thing I see on the screen are some weird colors fading in and out (green and purple), then the screen goes blank, then comes back sort of greenish and black (kind like it's being spray painted). I hooked up an external projector and it works fine and I see my "screen" fine.

If it is the display, is there any issue with dropping slightly in resolution to save some money. The current LCD is SXGA (1280x1024) and I'd like to replace it with a WXGA (1280x800).

What do you think? Thank you very much, in advance!

Actually the display is likely a much higher resolution, WXSGA (Dell P/N 7T774) but I run it at 1280x1024. just wanted to post in case this makes a difference.

Also, this is an old, personal laptop so the lower resolution display would be fine by me!
