Need Help

ok After I Installed New Copy of Microsoft Windows XP and im trying update my graphice and there no graphice update on cd why? do i needed installed something first?. well when i go on internet it laggy when i scroll or somthing. i just brought asus p5b-vm. and im kinda new doing settings. so When i first installed Microsoft cd then when it goes windows main then i put my asus cd in doing graphice updates and didnt even show on the list when i launch the cd. when i go on web site download the grahpice it wont let me installed it. so anyone give me tips what i needed to installed first ?
