Anyone know if there is anything fundamentally wrong with trying to run a single drive SATA (Raptor) as the System drive AND a RAID off the Southboard (Intel) controller at the same time ?
Will the Raptor be OK with the controller mode as RAID ?
Also, if in RAID mode, does that include or exclude AHCI functions
Also, if in ACHI mode, can the RAID be defined in Windows after booting

At the moment, I am stuck with using the Raptor (XP drive) on the Gigabyte controller as IDE. I know I need to do a re-install with F6 drivers (I've tried all sorts of driver reg updates to avoid this but run out of options).

Ideally I want the Gigabyte controller freed up and in AHCI mode for external backup drives.

Your thoughts, experience and suggestions please. Thanks.
