I need some clarification on this. I'm replacing a motherboard in my system. I read about the procedures online but have some questions. I'm using XP Home. As I understand it, I simply put the XP CD in the drive and shut off the computer. Replace the mobo and start the computer. Then enter the bios, set date and time, boot order and exit the bios. Proceed with the XP boot but instead of doing a fresh install, do a repair install. Once done, install chipset drivers for the new mobo. I'm trying to avoid a fresh install so I can save my data, programs and settings. Is this correct? Any other things to do? Should I delete my old drivers prior to the swap-out? Any other potential problems I may run into? Any other suggestions would be most helpful. I'm swapping a Asus 680i for a 780i.
