I decided one day to upgrade a old box w the K7VZA mb. The system had win2000, ect. Bought a stick of 512mb 266mh RAM. System was fine, but slow
(had a Duron for CPU). Bought a used xp2400+ and put it in. system was fine but was reporting it as a 1800+. (busses were running at 200mh fsb). Tried setting RAM bus and/or CPU bus to 266. Win2000 BSOD's constantly on boot.
I've tried every which way to force a stable 266bus but no go. Everythings perfect at 200. Tried the board jumpers (J9 and j10) but that causes BSOD's as well (BIOS does list CPU as 2400+). Ram and CPU are theorectically 266 (at least s purchased). Any ideas or is board just not fit for 266..........
PS: Tried swapping 350W PS w/ a 500W ps, no difference in behavior....
Tried running an iso of Linux but that too had issues at 266.
ANY hints????? I'm about ready to admit defeat and go on my way w/ this one (or just leave it as 200mhz.....grrrr
